Why play?

A closer look

Toffee Park has many different features; however most features are constantly being developed and changed in line with children's ideas.

Opening times change during term time and school holidays. For a more detailed account of our opening times and what activities are available, please feel free to visit or contact us.

Like adults children have many emotions. Through all aspects of play they explore and develop their feelings. In a caring and secure environment children and young people are safe to experiment and express their range of emotions.

From a very early age children begin to draw and paint. As children grow they look for many ways in which to express their natural creativity. The wide variety of activities and workshops on offer in our play setting stimulate imagination and teach new skills.

Making friends

Children and young people need the stimulation of being with other children. While playing together, they learn and develop the social skills they will need in adult life. Children learn to share and to help each other. They learn about winning and loosing and how to disagree without fighting.

Play is active

Children and young people enjoy running and jumping. They have a lot of energy. Our play structures provide the opportunity for children to stretch their muscles and develop their physical abilities. The Play structures are designed to provide children and young people with that essential element of risk which makes play adventurous. Physical activity keeps children's bodies healthy and helps them grow.

Independent thinking

While playing with others, children and young people practice and develop their language skills. They explore new ways of forming ideas and expressing themselves. Play encourages children to try new ways of thinking and to solve problems.
